Why I prefer my Filofax over my Smart Phone...

I have a lovely Apple iPhone 4S and a absolutely drop dead gorgeous Filofax!

BUT even though this is the technology age I prefer to use paper and pen over a electronic device and here is why....

It never looses battery and is ALWAYS on

My Filofax always sits pretty in my bag or on my desk at work, I never have to charge it, I never have to worry that I wont be able to use it where there is no signal etc... but my iPhone I have to charge once a night and sometimes during the day as well, so i always have it on charge in my car or at work, it drives me mad, and as I live in the country side there is NEVER a signal!

The diary on my iPhone is RUBBISH

And Siri has no idea, I tried to tell her to schedule in to remind me to send a birthday card to my friend, this is what she came up with (Siri is Australia and a woman for me)

Filofaxes are so much more reliable and customisable!!!

And you can make your own pages!!! You never have to be stuck to a set layout of an app and use it how it wants you to use it, you can make it work the way you want, and not conform to a boring white and black theme..

FILOFAXES NEED TO RULE THE WORLD!

  1. i don't use my iPhone for anything other than games, the odd text or phone call and facebook updates. I used to have an iPad app that was helpful for keeping course notes together for uni when i downloaded pdfs because it is easier to read from than a laptop but now it pretty much lives on the coffee table and sometimes gets used to google a recipe or play a game, i kind of miss the days when people only had home phone numbers!

  2. OH! My name has a coveted spot in Imy's Filo! :D

Agree with your entire post - I used to think my iPhone was all I needed, but obviously Filo has shown me all that I'm missing out on.

  3. I have a Filofax and Android smartphone but still absolutely LOVE my Filofax WAY more. The diary on my phone is rubbish (and I've tried downloading different apps too) and just don't beat the Filofax where I can customise it all so much more thoroughly!

  5. I couldn't agree more! I have an iPhone and now a Filofax and I"m loving my Cuban! I finally labeled my tabs today and got some photos of my lovely wife and dogs to put in the plastic sleeve. Looking better all the time!

  6. I have a Scanda and a Samsung Galaxy S2 which is a fantastic phone. But I also prefer to use my Filofax. She who must be obeyed calls it 'My Brain Thing". it goes everywhere with me and at times, even "She who must be obeyed" refers to it for information. Love all your photographs - my Scanda is very plain by comparison.

  7. I too got excited about seeing my name in your Filofax! I've been reading your blog for some time and to see that I'm mentioned in there made me smile! lol

I, too, have an iPhone and I used to religiously use the calendar on it. No more. I never use it now. I only use my Filofax.

  8. I agree with everything you've said here. I have an iPhone and an iPad, and I love both! But I could never give up my Filofax for planning my life. It just provides way too much satisfaction -- I love crossing off my to do items and deleting an entry on my phone doesn't provide the same feeling of accomplishment. Plus, in the Filofax, everything is archived. With digital, once it's gone, it's gone (well, I'm sure it still lives out there in cyberspace somewhere, but I can't access it). Great post!

  9. Imy, where did you get your pretty diary refills? I would love to have those instead of the Filofax!

  11. I prefer to carry my planner on my cell phone but after two days of searching, I haven't found the right kind of app to do the job. I have returned to my filofax. I'm not in love with my filofax; it isn't covered in pretty hearts, stars & smiley faces. I don't use a variety of coloured pens.
I just want something that will help organize my life.

  12. I admit I don't get why people are in love with their filofax. I use one because I couldnt find the perfect app on my cell phone to do the job. I still find the filofax big & bulky to carry around. I don't have time to draw pretty stars, hearts etc on every page. I just need something to help organize my life. It doesn't have an alarm for important things, so I have to keep checking into it. I seem to spend a great deal of time writing my schedule etc in it. Im not in love with my filofax. I wish there was something easier & smaller I could use.

  13. My friends and myself cannot post a comment using iphone or tablets. You can type it in but when you select the type of user you are, it boots you off and you lose your comment. Very frustraiting to get people to participate in your blog if it doesnt work. My blog is a Rubber Flooring uk
